I had more nail biting moments yesterday. SB 594 was sent back to the Senate on the 30th for the Senate’s concurrence. Because it got modified substantially in the Assembly, it had to be reexamined in the Senate. It went from the Senate Rules Committee (passed 4-0) to Appropriations (passed 4-2) to the Assembly Floor, where, at about 11:15 last night, it passed 21-12.

It has been ordered to “engrossing and enrolling”, which is, according to Scott Lay of Around the Capitol, “the process of proofreading the final bill and ensuring that all amendments have been correctly adopted, which happens before the Legislature officially presents the bill to the governor. The governor has until September 30 to sign or veto bills.”

Happy Labor Day weekend.
